Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to The Edge?
There are multiple ways to get to The Edge, fly, drive yourself, or hire a private taxi.
Most people enter the country at the international airport in San Jose (SJO). We prefer to then hop on a domestic flight, either Nature Air

or Sansa

to either Quepos or Palmar/Dominical regional airports. You are then just a one hour drive from The Edge. You can arrange to have a car rental at either airport or a private taxi to bring you to our door.
If you are more adventurous you can rent your car or get a driver in San Jose and make the mountain crossing, about 3.5 hours, this can be a challenging drive, but very beautiful in good weather, or take the coastal route, about 5 hours, less mountainous and quite scenic.
Where is the Beach?
You can walk to the beach from the Edge in just a few minutes. There is a path leading down to two virtually private beaches. By car you are 4 to 20 minutes from a huge range of beaches suited to a variety of activities, boogie boarding, surfing, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, shell collecting or just a sunset wander.

What should I bring?
The Southern Zone of Costa Rica has a fairly consistent temperature of about 85 degrees Fahrenheit. We prefer light casual clothing & flip-flops for daily wear. For dining out in the evenings dress remains casual, a button down shirt and light slacks or shorts for men and a sundress for women is the dressiest you will see. For hiking or fishing you will want sturdy shoes, a light long sleeve shirt and a hat. Sunscreen and bug spray are available here but if you need a specific product you should bring it with you. Don't forget your bathing suit!
A small English-Spanish dictionary can be helpful but you will find the locals are very helpful in figuring out what you need!
Linens, bath & beach towels, toilet paper, paper towels, bath and hand soap, laundry detergent, dish soap, dishwasher powder and some basic spices are included.
Where are groceries, restaurants and banking facilities available?
The Dominical area is growing rapidly and there are now a number of grocery stores and banks available. The Edge is located about 4 miles south of Dominical and 4 miles north of Uvita. In both towns you will find numerous grocery stores, restaurants and banking facilities.
Restaurant cuisine ranges from Continental, Italian, Tex-Mex, seafood, Sushi, French, Indonesian, traditional Tico fare, BBQ, bakeries, pizza joints and more!
Of course, don't forget that you can walk to a gourmet restaurant and spa only 3 minutes from The Edge!
What about medical services?
There is a doctor, a dentist and a pharmacist right in Dominical. We also have a new hospital in Cortez, full service, just 25min to the south.
